Bring the Paint in Westhouses
As part of our series of community public paint projects, Bring the Paint to Blackwell Parish, this mural, painted on a closed working men’s institute, celebrates the Stanier 8F steam locomotive that has a strong link to Westhouses rail heritage and was once housed in the engine sheds at Westhouses.
Leicester spray art collective Graffwerk once again visited the parish to create the work, with two of their artists Wing and Rich completing the huge mural on the side of the Corner Club over five days.
Bring the Paint in Hilcote
Bring the Paint is our current Greater Creative project designed to inject a bit of artistic flair into the local environment. Greater Creative have worked alongside Leicester based Graffwerk to bring large scale paintings to various areas of the parish that residents felt could do with a bit of a spruce up. The first redecoration task was to turn the storage container in Hilcote’s Royal Oak Meadow And Woodland into something spectacular for the people that regularly use the space (and also to make it a bit of a destination for people to visit!).
After some consultation with the local H.E.L.P group (Hilcote Environmental and Leisure Project) to select a suitable design from those presented by Graffwerk, graffiti artist Jano set to work transforming the surface of the container.
Bring the Paint in Newton
Based on brightening up drab storage containers, these murals honour the parish’s biggest annual event, the Newton Carnival, and Rememberance, bringing a field of poppies to the Newton Community Centre car park.
