I’m very much interested in community and working with local people. I’m currently working on and maintaining a blog that details the history of Blackwell Parish. I’d love for the project and it’s activities to bring more community cohesion, it’s something I think we’d all benefit from.

I have lived in Blackwell all my life apart from five years when I was first married. I enjoy the challenge of being involved with the working party with like minded people. As a group having the satisfaction of a project enjoyed by the community.

I hope tI have lived in Hilcote for 50 years plus. I am the local councillor for the village and chairperson for a voluntary group called Hilcote Environmental and Leisure Project. I want to make areas such as ours a better place to live in all aspects – be this wildlife, well being or the engagement of residents with art and culture.

Being part of the working party is in equal measure, exciting, interesting , hard work and sometimes frustrating. It is great to work with people who share your interests, ideals and visions. It gives one a sense of purpose and a great feeling when a project comes together.

I really want to be able to get to know our community better and, with like minded people, to help to create a better parish for us all. Create a Crest and the wood sculpture competitions have been great and a really good example of what the community can achieve together.

I’m part of the local youth group ‘Wings on Tour’ and I’m currently doing my Duke of Edinburgh. I heard about the working party through my involvement in these activities. I like to work with young people and to see the impact on the children in our community. I really think that what we’re doing will benefit them and help them in later life.

I hope to be more connected with other people and groups in Blackwell Parish and to work together on mutual, shared goals.I hope that the project will change the spaces that we have in our parish, by giving them more creativity. I also hope that it will encourage people in the parish to get outdoors more, and to celebrate both the history of our villages as well as the wonderful countryside around us.

I wanted to positively impact my parish and really enjoy leading creative activities, particularly with young people. I’m hoping this project will unite all generations of the parish and educate the younger generation on their heritage.

On a trip to Leicester, I was inspired by the many unique pieces of graffiti spread across the city. It made me think how we could apply this in our local community. Many of the pictures had a meaning which made me wonder how we could use our heritage and vital moments in our past to create new pieces, which could carry on inspiring others.
